About Me
From wild places to quiet moments.
Welcome to TMMasterson Photography. I’m Tim Masterson, a fine art photographer based in Shakopee, Minnesota.
My interest in photography started early, shooting on 110 format and disposable cameras before moving on to a Minolta XG1 35mm SLR in high school. During that time, I studied photography and developed my own black-and-white film, learning the craft through hands-on experience in the darkroom, with guidance from my high school teacher, Mr. Schoeberl.
As life became busier, photography took a back seat for a while. But in 2022, after a solo road trip through the Badlands, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Park with a Nikon D5300, I rediscovered my passion. That trip marked the beginning of a new chapter.
Since then, I’ve continued exploring and photographing landscapes, architecture, wildlife, and the night sky across the United States—from the mountains of the West to the coastlines of New England, and even as far as Hawaii. More recently, I’ve expanded into astrophotography, capturing events such as the Aurora Borealis and solar eclipses.
My work focuses on capturing moments of scale, light, and stillness—whether in vast landscapes, wildlife encounters, architectural details, or the night sky. Through photography, I hope to share a sense of wonder and connection to the places and moments that often go unnoticed.
Many images throughout my galleries are available as fine art prints and digital downloads. Additional works beyond the featured collections are also available. If you're interested in a specific image, a custom print size, a signed archival print, or a special request, I'd be happy to hear from you.
